subway windows
red line train 040405
I’m not quite sure why this image appeals to me. It’s a rather boring picture - no tension at the edges, no odd juxtapositions. just a moment alone on a subway car, two landmarks of the city I call home framed in the grimy train windows before we plunge back down into the tunnel, and pull into kendall sq.station.

first day of spring!
life more abundant. forest hills cemetery 061104
Ah, it's the first day of Spring. The trees are budding, the birds are yakking, and a bitter frigid wind is reminding us that it won't be warm for another week or two.
Spring is the perfect time to think about death, or rather, life, and how easy it is to waste moments complaining about things like the weather instead of really living. I wonder if this fellow, Clapp, whose monument above implores us to live a "Life More Abundant," actually did that, or if the words are merely speaking of his enormous wealth...

a new day, a new blog
memorial drive, cambridge 020106
my wise friend doctor j suggested i start my photo blog on my half birthday (saturday march 11), six months from my actual birthday of september 11. an excellent idea. instead, i'm starting it on march 16, a date with no significance whatsoever except that i finally got my act together.
i carry my digital camera (canon powershot s400) with me most of the time. my goal for the past couple of years has been to shoot a photo a day; but the real goal is to be present to the world around me as i wander the city, instead of being stuck in my head.
